Nepal to Host Its First Poetry Film Festival in 2026

Kathmandu, Dec. 23. The Himalayan Literature Festival & Writers Workshop (HLF–WWK) has announced Nepal’s first-ever Poetry Film Festival, scheduled to take place from 29 May to 5 June 2026 in Kathmandu.

Dedicated exclusively to cinema rooted in literature and poetry, the festival will feature lyrical, narrative, and experimental films where language and imagination shape visual storytelling.

A global call for submissions is now open, welcoming poetry films, literary adaptations, biographical documentaries, and interdisciplinary works. Selected films will be screened during HLF–WWK 2026, with an international jury and an award for Best Film.

Festival leaders described the initiative as a natural extension of their mission to foster dialogue across languages, art forms, and cultures—reimagining poetry through the lens of cinema.
