The World Poetry Movement (WPM), through its General Coordinator and founder, Colombian poet Fernando Rendón, has announced the participation of 74 video poems as part of the campaign titled “The World Poetry Movement for Gaza”. This wide-ranging poetic and humanitarian expression includes contributions from 52 countries around the globe.
These poetic contributions span across all five continents: 12 African countries, 17 Asian countries, 16 from the Americas, 5 from Europe, and 2 from Oceania. The campaign is part of a global initiative led by the Movement to support the Palestinian cause—particularly the people of Gaza—through the power of free expression and poetic voice.
Among the notable participating countries are: Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Sudan, Nigeria, India, Iraq, Iran, China (with 15 contributions), the United States, Cuba, Argentina, Mexico, Portugal, and Greece. Remarkably, contributions also came from remote islands such as Mauritius, Saint Lucia, Montserrat, and New Caledonia, highlighting the wide geographical reach of this initiative.
Poet Fernando Rendón emphasized that this campaign is not merely a cultural event, but a profound human outcry that transcends borders, uniting poets from diverse backgrounds and cultures in a shared stance against injustice, especially that suffered by the Palestinian people—most urgently in Gaza, which is enduring one of the gravest humanitarian tragedies of our time.
These video poems stand as an artistic archive and living testimony of global solidarity with Gaza—an initiative that documents a multilingual human engagement, where poetry becomes a bridge between peoples, and a message of resistance through words in the face of violence and marginalization.
