The World Organization of Writers (WOW) proudly marks the second anniversary of its founding, celebrating two years of collective literary action, cultural dialogue, and international cooperation. While two years may seem brief in historical terms, for a living cultural organization they represent a decisive period in which an idea has taken form, a vision has become practice, and the power of the written word has translated into meaningful global engagement.

Since its inception, WOW has grown from the signing of the Cairo Memorandum—endorsed by writers from 18 countries—into a dynamic international organization that has convened two major global congresses, held in Nigeria and Moscow. These milestones reflect WOW’s steady expansion and its commitment to building bridges between literatures, cultures, and peoples.

The Second WOW Congress, convened in Moscow on September 21, 2025, marked a pivotal moment of reflection and strategic choice. At this congress, members collectively outlined the organization’s future path and approved a comprehensive development program built on six key directions:

  1. The Decade of the Languages of the Peoples of the World (2026–2035):
A global humanitarian mission dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of linguistic and cultural diversity.
  2. 2026 as the Year of the Russian Language:
Recognizing the Russian language as a language of openness, dialogue, and interaction with other linguistic and cultural traditions.
  3. The International Project “Language — Traditions — Culture”:
Launching with a pilot collaboration between Russia and Ghana, this initiative will serve as a model for interlingual and intercultural cooperation.
  4. The World Literature Salon:
The creation of an international platform for living dialogue among writers, translators, philosophers, scholars, and readers worldwide.
  5. The International Volunteer Movement of Readers:
An innovative initiative positioning readers as active participants in the literary process and as custodians of the written word.
  6. The International Creative Competition “Planet Earth — 2050”:
Launching on January 1, 2026, this competition invites writers, philosophers, scientists, researchers, and thinkers to reflect on the future of humanity and the planet. Participants are encouraged to explore essential questions:

    • How do we envision our planet in 2050?
    • What will define the human being of the future—language, culture, consciousness, and responsibility?
    • Where are we heading, and which path should we choose?

WOW seeks concise, conceptual, and visionary works capable of being read, translated, discussed, and visualized. Selected contributions will form part of WOW’s international discussions, exhibitions, and presentation projects, and will be presented at the Third Congress of the World Organization of Writers, to be held in Brazil in 2026, as a collective vision of humanity’s future.

On this anniversary, WOW extends its sincere gratitude to all members, partners, and collaborators for their trust, commitment, and belief in literature as a vital force capable of connecting worlds, cultures, and destinies. The past two years have been a shared journey—one that continues with renewed purpose and responsibility toward the future of the word and the world.
