On International Mother Language Day — February 21
The World Organization of Writers (WOW) announces the launch of a long-term international humanitarian project “Language — Traditions — Culture,” which will be implemented over the next 10 years within the framework of the Decade of World Languages (2026–2035) and the Year of the Russian Language (2026).
The project is designed as a developing and scalable international platform that will expand, multiply, and adapt across different countries, languages, and cultural contexts.
📅 On February 21, International Mother Language Day, WOW will present several parallel international exhibitions, taking place simultaneously in Russia and partner countries.
🔹 Pilot Project — “Russia — Ghana” Exhibition, dedicated to the dialogue between the Russian language and the Twi language (Ghana) based on the theme “Family as the Foundation of Society.”
🔹 Additionally, WOW is opening submissions for four more languages, which will be implemented in parallel with Russian in the same exhibition format and will become part of the first international wave of the project.
Each exhibition includes:
5 photographic works;
texts in the national language and in Russian;
cultural, traditional, and family context.
📩 Submissions and proposals will be accepted for one week from the date of this announcement, to form working groups and begin the joint preparation of the exhibitions.
The “Language — Traditions — Culture” project will serve as a foundation for:
future exhibitions and international showcases;
translation and publication programs;
institutional cooperation between countries;
expansion of the initiative over a ten-year horizon.
On February 21, we make a global statement: the languages of the world are a priceless treasure of humanity, family and traditions remain the foundation of society, and cultural dialogue is built through words.
Our motto: We are people of one planet. Language is our shared path to the future.
With respect,
