Kerala: A memorable gathering celebrating the enduring bond between teachers and students brought together generations of alumni and former faculty members at Farook College, in an event jointly organized by the Departments of Arabic and Islamic History.
The reunion, marked by nostalgia, academic recognition, and warm recollections of the past, was inaugurated by Dr. K. A. Ayesha Swapna, Principal of Farook College.
A highlight of the gathering was the presentation of a series of awards recognizing academic excellence among students pursuing B.A. and M.A. programmes. The Principal presented the Prof. M. Muhammad Memorial Award, Nabeel Akbar Memorial Award, Midad Award, and Prof. M. Moitheenkutty Memorial Award to deserving students in recognition of their academic achievements.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Muhammad Abid U.P., Head of the Department of Arabic.
Remembering Distinguished Academics
The gathering also paid tribute to the memory and contributions of distinguished figures associated with Farook College. Memorial lectures on Prof. M. Moitheenkutty, Prof. M. Muhammad, and Nabeel Akbar were delivered by Prof. K.T. Hamsa, Dr. T.P. Muhammad Abdul Rasheed, and Dr. T.A. Muhammad, respectively.
The speakers reflected on the academic and cultural contributions of these figures and their lasting influence on generations of students and scholars.
Greetings and messages of goodwill were offered by Dr. K.M. Muhammad, Prof. M.A. Fareed, and Dr. A.P. Maimoonath.
Alumni and Former Teachers Reunite
The former teachers and students’ reunion brought together a distinguished group of academics, educators, and alumni, including Prof. K.P. Abubacker, Dr. K.V. Veeran Moitheen, Prof. M. Tahirabi, Prof. E.C. Abubacker, Dr. N.A.M. Abdul Qader, Dr. N. Abdul Jabbar, Prof. V. Soopi, Dr. U. Saithalavi, Dr. Sajid E.K., Dr. Abdul Majeed, Dr. Sageerali T.P., Dr. Abbas K.P., Shafeeq Ahmed, and Naeem Sharaf, among others.
Their speeches and personal recollections transformed the event into more than a conventional alumni gathering. The venue resonated with memories of teachers, classrooms, friendships, and formative academic experiences that have continued to shape the lives and careers of generations of Farookians.
The reunion vividly reflected the warmth of the guru–student relationship and the deep nostalgia associated with the passage of time. It also served as a reaffirmation of Farook College’s rich academic tradition and the enduring legacy of its teachers and students.
