Alexandra Cretté Presents Panoptica Americana in a Series of Poetic Readings in Paris

The poet Alexandra Cretté will present her narrative poetry collection Panoptica Americana through a series of literary events in Paris this April, offering audiences an opportunity to experience her powerful poetic voice that intertwines history, spirituality, and political reflection.

The program opens on Sunday, April 5, at 3:00 p.m. with a poetry reading at JIP’S CAFÉ near Châtelet Metro Station. The events continue on Friday, April 10, at 6:00 p.m. at Librairie Calypso, close to Denfert‑Rochereau Metro Station, where the author will discuss the themes of her work. Panoptica Americana, published by Atlantiques Déchaînés, is described as a timeless canticle to the Orixás and a poetic travel diary reflecting on the histories of intracontinental deportations. Through a polyphonic poetic language that merges the sacred and the profane, the intimate and the political, Cretté’s work revisits the lingering violence of colonization while celebrating the enduring beauty of the world.

The series concludes on Sunday, April 12, at 7:00 p.m. with a literary reading and conversation featuring the writer Youssef Zirem at Café Littéraire de l’Impondérable, near Pyrénées Metro Station. These gatherings promise an engaging encounter with contemporary poetry that bridges memory, resistance, and imagination.
