After the complete sell-out of his premiere show in less than two hours, acclaimed media figure and satirist Hossam Sokkari returns to the stage with a brand-new stand-up comedy performance on Friday, December 26, at 7:30 PM, at Nassibian Studio Theatre (Al-Nahda) in Cairo.

Widely known as a broadcaster, writer, and visual artist, Sokkari now steps confidently onto the theatre stage to present a distinctive form of stand-up comedy—one that blends personal experience, sharp satire, and carefully researched insight.
Sokkari began his journalistic career as a political cartoonist. His satirical drawings were published in newspapers across Germany and Finland, and his work has been exhibited in Cairo, London, Berlin, and Helsinki. Over time, his career evolved, establishing him as one of the most influential media voices in the Arab world.
He became widely recognized as a presenter on the BBC, later making history as the first Arab to head the BBC Arabic Service across television, radio, online, and digital platforms since the organization began broadcasting at the start of the last century. He also served as Editor-in-Chief of Yahoo Middle East, overseeing both Arabic and English platforms. For years, Sokkari was a prominent opinion columnist for Al-Shorouk, Al-Masry Al-Youm, and Al-Manassa.
Today, Sokkari runs his independent digital platform, “Sokkari Salon,” on YouTube. Alongside his Facebook page and group, it has become an open space for storytelling and thoughtful dialogue on complex and sensitive issues.
For Sokkari, the stand-up show “The Finnish Experience” is not a departure from his career, but rather a natural extension of his satirical vision—a new medium for expression. Having explored life’s contradictions through cartoons, microphones, opinion pieces, and digital conversations, he now brings them directly to the audience, unfiltered and live—marked by precise timing, keen observation, and real-time interaction.
