Marking a Historic First for Indian Wildlife Photography in Egypt and Africa

Cairo, Egypt — January 17, 2026

The 4th Wildlife Photography Exhibition by acclaimed Indian photographer Amol Avinash Hendre was successfully inaugurated on January 17, 2026, at the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), the cultural wing of the Embassy of India in Cairo. This landmark exhibition marks a historic milestone, as Amol Avinash Hendre becomes the first Indian wildlife photographer to exhibit in Egypt and across the African continent.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Ms. Sahitya Pusapati, Political Officer at the Embassy of India in Cairo, who praised the artistic quality and vision of the photographs. In her remarks, she emphasized the exhibition’s significance in promoting Indian tourism in Egypt and strengthening artistic and cultural exchange between India and Egypt.

Held over two days, January 17–18, 2026, at the MACIC venue in Zamalek, the exhibition attracted 80–90 visitors, including art enthusiasts, students, photographers, and members of the cultural community. Many students expressed keen interest in wildlife photography, inspired by the exhibition to pursue it both as a hobby and a professional path.

Although H.E. Mr. Suresh Reddy, Ambassador of India to Egypt, was out of town at the time, he conveyed his warm congratulations and encouraging remarks, commending the success of the project. Special acknowledgment was also given to Mr. Prakash Choudhary, Director of MACIC, for his vital support and effective promotion of the exhibition through social media channels.

The exhibition was supported by the Embassy of India in Cairo, Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), African Journalists Association, and The Silk Road Today (Cairo). The organizer expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Egypt, whose warm presence and support played a crucial role in the success of the event.

More than a visual showcase, the exhibition served as a cultural bridge, fostering friendship, mutual understanding, and artistic dialogue between India and Egypt through the universal language of nature and photography.
