Almaty, Kazakhstan —On 26 July 2026, the Award Ceremony of the 6th Silk Road International Poetry Festival will take place from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Almaty Museum of Art, bringing together distinguished poets, writers, cultural figures, international literary organizations, and representatives of the media in a major celebration of poetry, cultural exchange, and the shared heritage of the Silk Road.
The ceremony is organized through the collaborative efforts of the UN World Silk Road Forum, Silk Road International Poets Federation, Silk Road International Poetry Festival, World Association of Turkic Writers, World Poetry Movement, BRICS Writers Association, Great Poemism Movement, International Chamber of Writers and Artists, and World Poets Magazine.
The program will open with remarks by Wang Fangwen, Chairperson of the 6th Silk Road International Poetry Festival; Ulugbek Yesdaulet, Chairman of the World Association of Turkic Writers; Ashraf Aboul-Yazid, Founder of the Silk Road Literature Series and the Egyptian Poetry Association; Cao Shui, Asia Coordinator of the World Poetry Movement; and Altynai Temirova, Kyrgyzstan Coordinator of the World Poetry Movement.
A special presentation of certificates will honor the festival’s distinguished honorary chairpersons: Ulugbek Yesdaulet of Kazakhstan, Ashraf Aboul-Yazid of Egypt, Sultan Akimovich Raev of Kyrgyzstan, Altynai Temirova of Kyrgyzstan, Usmon Azim of Uzbekistan, Abdukahor Kosim of Tajikistan, and Kurbandurdy Orazov of Turkmenistan.
The ceremony will feature a major presentation of international poetry awards recognizing outstanding literary achievement and contributions to world poetry and Silk Road culture. Honors will include the UN World Silk Road Forum Outstanding Contribution Award to World Silk Road Culture, awards of the World Association of Turkic Writers, the Great Poemism Movement Medal to Ashraf Aboul-Yazid and Altynai Temirova, and the Golden Papyrus Poetry Awards presented to three Egyptian recipients. The Oscar Golden Poetry Award, presented by the UN Poetry Golden Thinker Forum for Poetry and Literature, will honor six recipients.
The Silk Road International Poets Federation will also present a broad range of awards, including the Laureate Poet Award, Golden Camel Award, Silver Camel Award, Golden Award for Poetry Collection, Golden Award for Film, and Golden Award for Calligraphy and Painting. In addition, Yiye Hongchen will receive the Top 10 Chinese-Language Works Award of the 5th World Parental Amity Poetry Award, presented by the Interstellar Poets Organization.
The program will also include a series of literary press conferences. Cao Shui will present the Arabic edition of Epic of Eurasia, while Wang Fangwen will introduce Silk Road Sails. A further press conference will showcase new poetry collections by Chinese poets, accompanied by a group photograph featuring 15 poets.
In a significant gesture of cultural exchange, calligraphy, paintings, and photographs will be donated to the city of Almaty. The book Camel Shadows on the Silk Road will also be presented to poets from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, strengthening literary connections among the cultures of the Silk Road.
A special highlight of the ceremony will be the World Peace Poetry Recital, bringing together poetic voices from across Eurasia. Chinese poets will recite poems by Abai Qunanbaiuly, Idyll by Ulugbek Yesdaulet, The Iron-Hard Tang of Suyab City: Li Bai by Cao Shui, One Thousand and One Lamps of Jack Hirschman by Ashraf Aboul-Yazid, We Have Never Met by Usmon Azim, From Chang’an to Almaty by Wang Fangwen, and On the Moonlit Mountain by Altynai Temirova. The program will also feature a special artistic performance of Li Bai Is Drunk by Chinese artist Chun Tian.
The award ceremony will conclude with a dinner banquet bringing together honorary chairpersons, the festival chairperson, executive and vice chairpersons, distinguished guests of the Organizing Committee, poets from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, members of the Chinese Delegation of Silk Road International Poets, and representatives of news media.
Through its rich program of awards, literary presentations, artistic performances, cultural donations, and peace poetry, the 6th Silk Road International Poetry Festival is set to reaffirm the enduring power of poetry to connect civilizations, preserve cultural memory, and promote friendship and dialogue across borders.
