Moscow, Russia – April 15, 2026 — The Union of Writers of Russia and the Gumilev Society will host a major cultural event at the Central House of Writers to commemorate the 140th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Russian poet Nikolai Gumilev.
Titled “The Golden Heart of Russia Beats Steadily in My Chest…”, the evening will bring together prominent figures from literature, theater, music, and academia in a tribute to Gumilev’s poetic legacy and enduring influence.

The event will feature distinguished participants, including Valery Barinov, People’s Artist of Russia; Igor Volgin, writer, historian, and president of the Dostoevsky Foundation; Pavel Kryuchkov, literary historian and editor of Novy Mir; and Olga Medvedko, writer and Chair of the Gumilev Society.
Also participating are Amarsana Ulzituev, State Prize laureate of the Republic of Buryatia; Andrey Korovin, poet and president of the Voloshin September Foundation; Astier Bazilio from Brazil; Yuri Shchegolkov, director of the Gumilev House Museum in Bezhetsk; composer Gennady Ponomarev; and pianist Natalya Teryokhina, an international competition laureate.
The program will also include a performance by the creative ensemble Dead Poets Band, presenting a musical-poetic composition based on Gumilev’s works, and the premiere screening of the film “Gumilev Mysteries” directed by Alexey Yurgaitis.
The evening will be hosted by Olga Medvedko and Andrey Korovin, and will take place in the Grand Hall of the Central House of Writers, beginning at 7:00 PM. Admission is free.
In parallel with the celebrations, poet Olga Medvedko announced her participation in a televised discussion dedicated to Gumilev. She stated:
“On April 15 at 10:15 AM, on the TV channel Russia-Kultura in the program Observer, together with Andrey Maksimov, we will talk about the poet Nikolai Gumilev—his творчество and судьба.”
The broadcast will also feature actress Yulia Rutberg, poet Andrey Korovin, and Doctor of Philology Irina Mineralova, offering a multifaceted perspective on Gumilev’s life and literary heritage.
This landmark event highlights the continued relevance of Nikolai Gumilev’s творчество, bringing together generations of artists and scholars in a shared celebration of Russian literary tradition.
