Memories of Travel and Mysticism in Ancient Egypt by Marlene Pasini to Be Presented in Cairo

A Mexican writer’s literary journey into the history, spirituality and mysteries of Ancient Egypt

Cairo is set to host two cultural events in September celebrating the presentation of Memories of Travel and Mysticism in Ancient Egypt, a new book by Mexican writer, poet and Egyptology scholar Marlene Pasini.

The two presentations will bring together literature, history, Egyptology and cultural dialogue, offering audiences an opportunity to explore Ancient Egypt through the perspective of a Mexican author whose intellectual and creative work has long been inspired by ancient civilizations, spirituality, symbolism and the search for universal human meaning.

Two presentations in Cairo

The first presentation will take place on 9 September at 6:30 p.m. at the Paradise Establishment for Culture and Arts, on Emad El-Din Street, behind Al-Rihany Theatre and near Tahrir Square.

The event will feature comments by Prof. Mohammad M. Othman and Prof. Mohamed Alaiwa, while Prof. Raghda Magued, a Hispanist translator, will contribute to the discussion. The event is coordinated by Dr. Taghrid Fayyad, President of the Lebanese-Egyptian Cultural Forum.

The second presentation will be held on 15 September at 6:30 p.m. at the Egyptian Culture Club in Garden City, beside the British Embassy and near the Samir Amis Hotel.

The commentators at the second event will be Dr. Hussein Bassir, Dr. Tarek El Khouly and Prof. Mohamed Alaiwa, with Dr. Taghrid Fayyad again serving as coordinator.

The two events provide complementary opportunities for Egyptian readers, academics, writers and cultural figures to engage with Pasini’s work and discuss the continuing relevance of Ancient Egyptian civilization to contemporary literature and intercultural dialogue.

A literary journey through Ancient Egypt

The title of the book brings together two central dimensions of Marlene Pasini’s intellectual and creative experience: travel as a journey across places, civilizations and cultures, and mysticism as an inner journey in search of meaning, symbolism and spiritual memory.

In Pasini’s work, Egypt is not merely an archaeological destination or a subject of historical study. It emerges as a living cultural and spiritual landscape, rich in symbols, myths, beliefs and intellectual traditions that have continued to fascinate humanity across centuries.

Her engagement with Ancient Egypt reflects a broader interest in ancient wisdom, spirituality, history and the symbolic language of civilizations. This perspective gives the book a distinctive character, combining the literary sensibility of a poet and writer with the curiosity of a researcher fascinated by Egyptology and the mysteries of the ancient world.

Marlene Pasini: Mexican writer, poet and scholar of ancient civilizations

Marlene Pasini is a Mexican writer, poet, editor and visual artist whose work brings together literature, history, Egyptology, spirituality and the study of ancient wisdom.

Her literary output includes poetry, essays and other works addressing themes such as spirituality, women, mythology, ancient civilizations and the human search for meaning. Her published poetry collections include Cristal del tiempo and El silencio es otra noche.

Pasini has also pursued academic and intellectual studies related to literature, history and Egyptology, developing a particular interest in the civilizations of the ancient world and their philosophical and spiritual heritage.

Her cultural activities extend beyond writing. She has participated in international literary and artistic events and has worked across different cultural environments, contributing to dialogue between Mexico, Egypt and other countries.

Her long-standing interest in Ancient Egypt is particularly relevant to Memories of Travel and Mysticism in Ancient Egypt, in which the historical and archaeological heritage of Egypt becomes the starting point for a broader literary and spiritual reflection.

Egypt and Mexico: A dialogue between two ancient cultural traditions

The presentation of Pasini’s book in Cairo represents more than the launch of a literary work. It is also an opportunity to strengthen cultural dialogue between Egypt and Mexico, two countries whose cultural identities are deeply connected to ancient civilizations, symbolic traditions, artistic heritage and enduring questions about humanity and the universe.

Through the eyes of a Mexican writer, Ancient Egypt becomes part of an international literary conversation. Pasini’s perspective demonstrates how Egypt’s ancient heritage continues to inspire writers and intellectuals far beyond its geographical borders.

The participation of Egyptian scholars and cultural figures in the two Cairo presentations adds another important dimension to this dialogue, bringing together an international literary interpretation with Egyptian academic and cultural expertise.

The events therefore underline the continuing power of literature to reinterpret the past and to transform ancient heritage into a bridge between contemporary peoples and cultures.
