Literature and the Future Human Being: World Organization of Writers Hosts International Literary Salon in Amman

AMMAN, JORDAN – November 9, 2026 – How can literature help humanity imagine, understand, and shape the future human being? This central question will bring together distinguished writers, poets, scholars, and cultural leaders at an international literary salon organized by the World Organization of Writers (WOW) during the First World Public Summit: Arab World.

Entitled “Creating the Image of the Future Person in Literature,” the literary salon will take place on November 9, from 19:00 to 20:00, at Signia by Hilton Amman. The gathering will provide an international platform for examining how literature reflects the transformations of contemporary civilization and contributes to shaping the values, identities, and aspirations of future generations.

At a time when technological developments, scientific discoveries, cultural transformations, and ethical challenges are redefining human experience, literature has an increasingly important role in exploring what it means to be human. The discussion will examine the relationship between humanistic ideals, cultural codes, philosophical perspectives, and the moral dilemmas of the technological age.

Literature as a Vision of Humanity’s Future

Bringing together representatives of different countries, literary traditions, generations, and academic disciplines, the salon will explore both universal and culturally distinctive representations of the future human being in world literature.

Participants will consider how writers and readers contribute to rethinking the future, how literary creativity can inspire new values and personal attitudes, and how the integration of scientific innovation with literary traditions can generate positive visions for humanity.

Special attention will be devoted to the role of language in shaping personalities, identities, and worldviews. The discussion will also address the importance of reading as an instrument of personal development, critical thinking, tolerance, social responsibility, and cultural transformation.

Among the central questions will be how contemporary literature can encourage young people to develop creative aspirations and responsible attitudes toward society, and how writers, researchers, educators, and cultural institutions can cooperate to advance literary visions of the future.

The salon will be moderated by two distinguished literary figures:

  • Margarita Al (Russia), Poet, Chair of the Literary Council of the World Peoples Assembly, and President of the World Organization of Writers (WOW).
  • Nawal Hawwar (Jordan), Author and poet.

Their participation will help connect international literary perspectives with the Jordanian cultural and intellectual scene.

  • Alexandra Ochirova (Russia), Co-chair of the Supreme Consultative Council of the World Peoples Assembly, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, and member of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO.

The participation of representatives of the Jordanian Writers Association alongside international literary leaders provides an important opportunity to strengthen professional relationships and explore new avenues for cooperation between writers and literary institutions.

World Organization of Writers (WOW) Medal to the distinguished Palestinian poet and writer Dr. Hanan Awwad

It is planned to award the World Organization of Writers (WOW) Medal to the distinguished Palestinian poet and writer Dr. Hanan Awwad, in recognition of her outstanding literary contributions and her role in promoting cultural dialogue and international literary cooperation. The award was announced during the World Public Summit held in Moscow last September, and its forthcoming presentation will reaffirm WOW’s appreciation of her creative achievements and her enduring commitment to literature, human values, and the dialogue between cultures.

Arabic Language 2027: A New Opportunity for Literary Cooperation

One of the particularly significant themes of the salon will be preparations for the Year of the Arabic Language in 2027, within the framework of the Decade of Languages of the Peoples of the World.

The discussion will explore how this initiative can become an international platform for promoting Arabic literature, encouraging translation, supporting cultural exchange, and strengthening cooperation between the World Organization of Writers and the Writers’ Union of Jordan.

Translation will be considered not merely as a linguistic activity but as a creative bridge connecting literary traditions, introducing new voices to international audiences, and giving literary works new lives in other languages.

This topic is especially relevant to Ashraf Aboul-Yazid’s participation, given his longstanding engagement with literary translation and his work in promoting dialogue between Arabic literature and other cultures.

Building a Literary Vision for the 21st Century

The salon’s broader objective is to establish an interdisciplinary and intercultural space where literature, science, philosophy, education, and cultural diplomacy can meet to explore the future of humanity.

By exchanging experiences and proposing new collaborative initiatives, the participants aim to encourage literary creativity that combines the wisdom of cultural traditions with the possibilities of contemporary innovation.

The event reinforces the World Organization of Writers’ commitment to international literary cooperation and to the role of writers as active contributors to shaping human consciousness, inspiring younger generations, and building a more tolerant and interconnected world.

Ultimately, the question of the future human being is also a question about the future of literature itself: what values it will preserve, what possibilities it will imagine, and what kind of humanity it will help bring into existence.
