Ashraf Fayadh es un poeta y artista palestino nacido en 1980. Participó en varias exposiciones internacionales, incluyendo la Bienal de Venecia. En 2008 publicó el poemario Instrucciones en el interior, por el cual fue acusado de “blasfemo” y de “incitar al ateísmo” y condenado a muerte en Arabia Saudita en noviembre de 2015. Por una gran presión internacional, la pena fue conmutada por la de ocho años de prisión y 800 latigazos. No obstante, gracias al apoyo de diversos sectores de la comunidad internacional, el poeta fue liberado recientemente. En enero de 2017, Fayadh compartió el Premio Oxfam Novib/PEN a la Libertad de Expresión con Malini Subramaniam.

Ashraf Fayadh is a Palestinian poet and artist born in 1980. He has participated in several international exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale. In 2008, he published the collection of poems, Instructions Within, for which he was accused of being “blasphemous” and “inciting atheism” and sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia in November 2015. Due to significant international pressure, his sentence was commuted to eight years in prison and 800 lashes. However, thanks to support from various sectors of the international community, the poet was recently released. In January 2017, Fayadh shared the Oxfam Novib/PEN Prize for Freedom of Expression with Malini Subramaniam.
