

The World Poetry Movement (WPM) is pleased to announce Poetry Workshop-2, a dynamic, global event featuring a distinguished panel of speakers and facilitators. The event will be held on 12 April 2025 at 2pm GMT, and it is open to anyone passionate about poetry and looking to enhance their creative skills. The workshop will be hosted online via Zoom ( in English).

Daya Dissanayake (born 8 March 1947) is a bilingual Sri Lankan novelist, poet and blogger. His work spans a critical study of king Ashoka, nine novels in English, six novels in Sinhala and a collection of poems, and numerous articles in newspapers, journals and magazines. He is the author of the first e-novel in Asia, ‘The Saadhu Testament’ (1998), and the first e-novel in Sinhala, ‘Vessan Novu Wedun’ (2003). His first nonfiction work is “Who is Ashoka?” He is the only Sri Lankan writer to receive the Sri Lankan State Literary Award for the best English novel three times and was awarded the SAARC Literary Award in 2013.Being the first Sri Lankan to release his work online and for free access, he is often seen as one of Sri Lanka’s earliest and most vocal advocates for the ebook format, copyleft and Creative Commons.
Joyce Ashuntantang is a professor of English who teaches a variety of courses, University of Hartford, including Literature Across Cultures, African American Literature, and Survey of Minority Writers. She emphasizes the benefits of small class sizes, stating that they allow every student at Hillyer to be in a “front row” seat, enabling her to understand each student as an individual with unique needs and talents. Her research interests span several areas, including African literature and film, oral African literature, African textual and bibliographic studies, and African American literature and culture.
Bengt Berg was born in 1946 in Torsby, Värmland, Sweden. He studied German and Nordic languages & Literary and Art studies at Uppsala University. He worked as a freelance writer and translator since 1975. Berg was a Member of the Swedish Parliament from 2010 to 2014.
Since 1990, Bengt has operated the publishing house, Heidruns Förlag, and an Art Café in his home village Fensbol near Torsby in the Province of Värmland.
Bengt Berg’s debut poetry collection, Where the Dream Ends, appeared in1974; and since then he has written more than thirty books, mostly poetry. His poems have been translated into Nordic languages, as well as Arabian, Hebrew, English, German, Dutch, Greek, Romanian, Spanish, Turkish, Polish, Russian, Latvian, Vietnamese, Hindi and Malayalam. In 2014, he published his Collected Poems, Dikter genom 40 år. He has participated in many poetry festivals, including Medellín (Colombia), Granada (Nicaragua), Struga (Macedonia), och Druskininkai (Litauania), Nisan (Israel), Jan Smrek Festival (Slovakia), Kritya (India), Târgul Festival de Poezie (Romania), Poetry on the Road (Bremen, Germany), among others. Berg has won several Swedish Literary prizes, among them some from The Swedish Academy.
The workshop promises to be a truly international experience, providing a platform for poets and enthusiasts from all around the world to engage with influential voices in the poetry community. Participants will be able to interact directly with the speakers, learn new techniques, and take part in discussions that will inspire their poetic journeys.
