On the morning of Saturday, May 10th, the “Julio Sánchez Chang” Poetry Classroom was inaugurated at the Manzanillo Cultural Center. This class, with an initial enrollment of 9 girls and adolescents, is sponsored by the CubaPoesía project, chaired by writer Alex Pausides, as well as the World Poetry School, promoted by the World Poetry Movement (WPM), with collaborators in 37 countries. Since its founding, the initiative has enjoyed the approval of fans, families, and schools, who are grateful for the support and recognition of its efforts.
The poetry class in the city of Guacanayabo aims to elevate the literary quality of its members, effectively promote their creations, and encourage personal growth. Through various activities, they will enjoy new connections with national and international works and authors. Likewise, they will be able to delve deeper into the theoretical elements acquired in the literary workshops and will have opportunities to showcase their creations throughout the country and beyond.
The Jacaranda theater project participated in the event, which fused the art of clowning with poetry. The girls participating in the project, which will undoubtedly include male representation, read poems dedicated to José Martí, in homage to his death in combat.
With the aim of showcasing the work of different generations of creators, poems by Rachel Ferrales Roselló, a graduate of the Casa’s literary workshops, and by the writer and Director of the Manuel Navarro Luna Literary Promotion Center, Ángel Larramendis Mesías, were also shared.
