Among the many highlights of the program is a powerful artistic tribute to Frantz Fanon, curated by renowned director Kolo Barst. On Friday, July 18 at 7:00 PM, the Hall Aimé Césaire at Tropiques Atrium will host an evening of vibrant performances by Martinican artists, including Joby Bernabé, Papa Slam, Kendjy Diony, Nicole Cage, Suzy Singa, and students from Collège Georges Celma in Vauclin. This event, infused with spoken word, poetry, and music, will celebrate Fanon’s enduring legacy and revolutionary spirit. Admission is free.
The broader program includes film screenings, academic workshops on colonialism, resistance, and Fanon’s thought, as well as public discussions on mental health, identity, and anti-colonial struggle. The meeting will conclude on Sunday, July 20 with a solemn act on the esplanade Eugène Mona, followed by testimonies and a screening of “Sur les traces de Fanon” by Mehdi Lallaoui.
This international gathering affirms Fanon’s continuing relevance in the fight for justice, memory, and liberation across the globe.
