Rev. Dr. Ango Fomuso Ekellem Appointed New Coordinator of WAFORD

The Writers of African Origin in the Diaspora (WAFORD) proudly announces the appointment of Rev. Dr. Ango Fomuso Ekellem as its new Coordinator. A dynamic leader and accomplished scholar, Dr. Ekellem steps into this role with humility, vision, and a deep commitment to building bridges across continents through the power of African literature.

In her inaugural message, Dr. Ekellem expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity, acknowledging the significant legacy she inherits:

“This is a position that carries big shoes to fill, which I pray to take on seriously and honorably. I embrace this opportunity with deep gratitude and a strong commitment to building bridges through African literature. By promoting writing for change and building on the incredible work already underway, I hope to help align the heart and the mind — so that meaningful transformation can take root in our communities and among our descendants worldwide.”

Living between Germany and the USA, Dr. Ekellem brings a unique global perspective to WAFORD. A devoted mother of three sons, she also serves as a lecturer in Robotics, Applied Mathematics, and Software Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, Germany. Her interdisciplinary background is set to enrich WAFORD’s mission, as she envisions a literary platform that embraces writers from all fields — uniting the sciences, humanities, and arts to foster holistic change.

Under her leadership, WAFORD will continue to celebrate African diasporic voices, amplify diverse stories, and nurture a literary movement that connects communities across generations and geographies.

“Together, we will amplify our voices, celebrate our stories, and shape a more united literary future,” Dr. Ekellem affirms. “We stand not only to preserve our heritage, but to inspire change that echoes through time.”

WAFORD welcomes this new chapter with enthusiasm and calls on all writers, artists, thinkers, and supporters of African literature in the diaspora to join in this transformative journey.
