Nam Ya Azizi : A Cross-Cultural Lullaby Bridging Tamil and Arabic Traditions Released to Global Acclaim

In a moving celebration of cultural dialogue and artistic devotion, the Arabic video song “Nam Ya Azizi” (نم يا عزيزي) was officially released on March 21, 2026, marking World Poetry Day with a deeply resonant message of tenderness and shared humanity. Inspired by the timeless lullaby “Kararum Vaanatthil Kaanum Muzhu Nilave” by the renowned Tamil poet Bharathidasan, the work stands as a luminous continuation of poetic legacy across languages and cultures. The album was formally launched by the distinguished actor M. Nassar, President of the South Indian Artistes’ Association, lending the occasion both artistic and institutional significance.

At the heart of this project is A. Jahir Husain, whose role as translator and director reflects a lifelong dedication to language, literature, and human connection. Though many know him through his academic contributions and his association with the Malayalam Department of the University of Madras, his influence extends far beyond formal classrooms. Through quiet inspiration, generosity of spirit, and an unwavering commitment to cultural exchange, Dr. Husain has guided and inspired countless individuals. His earlier work translating the classical Tamil text Thirukkural into Arabic demonstrated his profound love for language—a love that now finds renewed expression in “Nam Ya Azizi.”

More than a creative production, “Nam Ya Azizi” emerges as a heartfelt continuation of this devotion—a bridge between Tamil poetic heritage and Arabic musical sensibility. The project brings together an international team of artists, including music composer Ubaid Kunnakkavu from Kerala and Palestinian vocalist Reem Ahmed, whose voice carries the lullaby’s emotional depth across borders. The recording, completed in Palestine by Samed Baoud, and the post-production work by Kumar Manivel, further underscore the global collaboration behind the piece.

Produced by Drums Jerry Entertainment under the guidance of Glady Gerard, the video song embodies a rare harmony of tradition and innovation, blending classical inspiration with contemporary artistic tools. It is expected to resonate deeply with audiences seeking beauty, peace, and cultural unity in a fragmented world.

With its graceful spirit and profound emotional core, “Nam Ya Azizi” stands as both an artistic achievement and a tribute to the enduring power of mentorship, translation, and shared humanity.
