Virtual Panel: "Daughters of Literature"

As part of the commemoration of International Women’s Day (March 8), the Museum of Women presents its March activities focused on history, rights, and the feminist struggle. The schedule includes conferences, film screenings, exhibitions, and artistic events.

Virtual Conferences: “History of Feminisms”
Every Tuesday of the month at 4:00 PM, the virtual conference series “History of Feminisms” will be broadcasted, offering an analysis of feminist struggles and the evolution of feminist thought. The topics include:

  • The Enlightenment origins of feminism
  • The participation of Afro-Mexican women
  • The Zapatista insurgency
  • Ethnographic writing and Yucatecan feminisms

Friday, March 7

  • At 12:00 PM, the virtual series “Poetics of Intelligence” will feature Beatriz Saavedra and Rosina Conde analyzing the literary legacy of Inés Arredondo, a Mexican poet known for her introspective narratives.
  • At 4:00 PM, there will be an in-person screening of the documentary “Reescribirnos” by Marisol Cabrera Guevara.

Wednesday, March 12
At 4:00 PM, the “Biographical Dictionary of Prominent Women from Jalisco, Vol. IV: Women in Action” will be presented virtually, highlighting women’s contributions to activism, warfare, philanthropy, sports, and business in the region.

Thursday, March 13
As part of the 700th anniversary of the founding of Mexico-Tenochtitlán, a virtual forum will take place at 4:00 PM discussing the role of women as guardians of lineage and nation-building.

March 16 and 30
The Dance Therapy Workshop will be held, focusing on improving posture, strengthening muscles, increasing flexibility, and reducing stress.

Virtual Panel: “Daughters of Literature”
Featuring Ethel Krauze, Kyra Galván, and Mónica Castellanos. Connection time: 4:00 PM.

Thursday, March 20
At 5:00 PM, the event “Poetry in the Voice of Its Authors” will feature Ana Stjelja (Dubai), Mirta Venezia (Argentina), and Cristina Rascón (Mexico).

Friday, March 21
At 12:00 PM, the monthly session of the Criminal Law Workshop with a Gender and Human Rights Perspective will address “Criminal Liability of Legal Entities and Crime Victims” led by Guadalupe Valdés Osorio.

Film Debate
Screening of the movie “The Hours” (2002), directed by Stephen Daldry and based on the novel by Michael Cunningham. The story follows three women in different eras connected by Virginia Woolf’s “Mrs. Dalloway”.

Series: “The Association of Mexican University Women”
An analysis of its creation and the leadership of María de la Luz Grovas, a pioneering university leader and feminist. Scheduled for March 15, 27, and 28 at 12:00 PM.

Saturday, March 29

  • At 12:00 PM, the workshop “Human Rights Judgments Judge Us All” will analyze “Significant Judgments Against the Erasure of Women” led by Dr. Ydalia Pérez-Fernández Ceja (FEMU, UNAM).
  • During Museum Night, a musical encounter with the Yanaldoo Women’s Choir Ensemble will be presented by Dr. Regina Esperanza Samperio.
  • In celebration of International Lesbian Poetry Day, there will be a reading of Lesbian Feminist Poetry featuring poets Nina Mejía Martínez, Karina Vergara, and an open mic for lesbian poets. Moderator: Raquel Ramírez Salgado. In-person event at 4:00 PM.

Sunday, March 30
As part of the series “Women Against Silence: An Approach to Contemporary Women Writers”, there will be a discussion on the works of Dolores Castro Varela in honor of her memorial anniversary. Led by Rocío García Rey. In-person event at 4:00 PM.
