Poets from Across the Mongolian World Pay Tribute to Literary Icon Dashdorjiin Natsagdorj

MONGOLIA – November 4, 2026

More than 40 poets representing Mongolian communities from across the world gathered in Mongolia to pay tribute to the great Mongolian writer and poet Dashdorjiin Natsagdorj, marking the 117th anniversary of his birth.

The visiting poets, representing the *Dornin Gэгээн Аялгуу* (Eastern Sacred Melody) Unified Association for Mongolian Literature and Cultural Heritage, travelled from various regions and communities, including Xinjiang in China, Upper Mongolia, Inner Mongolia, Kalmykia in Russia, and Buryatia.

As part of the inaugural international poetry festival, **“The Mongolian Century: A Global Gathering of Mongolian Poets,”** the participants visited the monument of Dashdorjiin Natsagdorj and laid flowers in a solemn ceremony honouring his literary legacy and his enduring contribution to Mongolian national culture.

The floral tribute symbolised the poets’ respect for one of Mongolia’s most influential literary figures, while highlighting the shared cultural identity, historical memory, and linguistic heritage connecting Mongolian communities across geographical borders.

The festival’s programme continues on November 4 at 4:00 p.m. at the Urguu Cultural Palace in Baganuur District. The poetry gathering is open to the public free of charge, with residents and visitors invited to attend and enjoy performances by poets from across the Mongolian world.

The inaugural festival provides an important platform for cultural exchange, literary dialogue, and the celebration of Mongolian poetry, bringing together voices from different regions in a shared tribute to a literary heritage that transcends borders.
