A Poet

• A Poet

You stopped me at the forbidden gate,
Asking me to unveil what must remain unseen.
Don’t you know the secret is a flame of light—
It fades the moment it leaves our souls?

I keep the faith of a poet,
Condemned never to confess.
And when he dares to sing,
They silence him again—
Even when his rhyme is pure and kind.

You set my wings aflame,
Then asked me to fly.
I tried,Hoping the wind would quench the fire—
But found my wings dividing,
Ash against the sky.
Then I knew
I could neither soar nor stay.
