Leaders of Ghana and Benin Writers’ Associations Visit PAWA House, Strengthen Literary Ties

NEWS REPORT

On July 23, 2025, the Acting President of the Ghana Association of Writers (GAW), Dr. Charity Boateng, and the President of the Association of Benin Writers, Ms. Adelaide Fassinou, paid a courtesy visit to the Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) Secretary General, Dr. Wale Okediran, at his office in Accra, Ghana.

The visit, which came shortly after the successful PAWA Congress, was both congratulatory and strategic. The two distinguished literary leaders commended Dr. Okediran on his recent reappointment as PAWA Secretary General and expressed their continued support for the Association’s vision.

During the meeting, they raised key concerns and shared updates regarding the literary activities and developmental goals of their respective associations. Discussions focused on ways to deepen collaboration between member associations, promote women writers, and build sustainable literary programs across Africa.

Notably, both Dr. Boateng and Ms. Fassinou had participated in the pioneering African Women Writers Conference held in Morocco in 2023, where landmark resolutions were adopted to support and elevate the voices of African women writers.

As part of her visit, Ms. Fassinou graciously donated copies of her award-winning books to the PAWA House Library, further enriching its literary collection and reinforcing the spirit of pan-African literary solidarity
