The Three Continents Creative Meeting Unites Voices across Cultures

Ashraf Aboul-Yazid brings together voices from three continents — translated into Arabic in the acclaimed Silk Road Literature Series.

 Cairo, Egypt — September 3rd, 2025, the Three Continents Creative Meeting will bring together authors from Azerbaijan , Nigeria, China, Russia, India and Taiwan, alongside their translator, the acclaimed Egyptian poet and novelist Ashraf Aboul-Yazid, in a unique virtual literary event.

The festival celebrates the release of Arabic translations in the Silk Road Literature Series, a project launched in Cairo in 2016, dedicated to building bridges between world literatures and the Arabic-speaking readership.

This year’s featured works include: Hemant Divate (India) –  (A Depressingly Monotonous Landscape), a volume of poetry, Miao-ye Tu (Taiwan) , (They Are the Daughters of Siraya), a poetry collection, Esther Adelana (Nigeria) – Ìbálé: The Broken Pot, a 7 act play exploring identity and the struggles against gender inequality, Inna Natcharova (Russia) – I, Cleopatra, a fantasy historical-literary work that reimagines ancient legacies, Mexosh Abdullah (Azerbaijan) – The 6th Floor, a collection of short stories depicting modern lives with sharp insight and Cao Shui (China) – Epic of Eurasia, an ambitious literary project bridging civilizations, scheduled for publication next year in the prestigious publishing house, Al Nasher, established by the Egyptian poet Magdy Aboul-Khier.

All the featured titles were translated into Arabic by Ashraf Aboul-Yazid, whose distinguished career spans over 40 books authored and translated. Known for his cultural diplomacy through literature, Aboul-Yazid continues to introduce global voices to the Arab world, reinforcing the Silk Road’s legacy as a corridor of exchange and creativity.

The Three Continents Festival will be held online, offering readers, critics, and cultural enthusiasts worldwide the opportunity to engage with authors and their works in conversation with their translator.

There will also readings in native languages and Arabic. Artists and authors from Russia and Taiwan will exhibit their artworks published in their books.
