I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Simona, known in the world of creative events by her artistic name Siris Mosaici, for accepting this opportunity for dialogue devoted to her art. Her ability to transform different materials into visual harmonies, together with her warm and sunny presence, makes every encounter with her work an experience that goes beyond aesthetic observation.
It is a privilege to tell the story of her creative journey, rich in research, intuition and attentive listening. Simona approaches mosaic and micro-mosaic as languages capable of bringing together precision, patience and freedom of expression.
Over the years, she has expanded her artistic research by experimenting with different techniques and materials, combining traditional and contemporary elements. Her works, ranging from jewellery to paintings, are united by a strong aesthetic sensibility and meticulous attention to detail.
Her exhibitions fully reflect her style, but what makes an encounter with Siris Mosaici truly unique is Simona’s natural ability to connect with others. She talks about what she creates, listens, exchanges ideas, and transforms an exhibition space into a place of genuine human interaction and exchange.

How did your relationship with mosaic and micro-mosaic begin, and what intuition led you toward these distinctive forms of artistic expression?
My relationship with mosaic began in a completely unexpected way. I enrolled in the Mosaic Restoration School because of my love for the conservation and restoration of works of art. That was where I first began to approach this art form: in order to restore a work, it is essential to know it thoroughly, and through my studies I had the privilege of discovering Byzantine mosaic, among other traditions.
What guided me toward this particular way of making mosaics, however, was simply curiosity. I love experimentation, even when it moves away from classical conventions. I believe this was precisely what guided me.
Experimentation is central to your artistic journey. Which materials or techniques have most expanded your creative vision?
In reality, there is no particular material or technique that defines me. I prefer to let myself be guided by everything that conveys an emotion to me. I am a person who follows her instincts and feelings, and in art as well, I have simply allowed myself to be guided by what inspires me most.
Your works bring together different elements in harmonious balance. How do you construct this dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity?
I believe that mastery of traditional techniques is the essential foundation for achieving true freedom of expression. When a technique becomes truly yours and you acquire an awareness of it, curiosity and experimentation naturally become a necessity.
It was precisely my practical experience that has allowed me to feel completely free today to express myself, without ever stopping learning.
The return to exhibitions has marked a new phase in your artistic journey. What value do you now place on direct contact with the public?
Events have given me the opportunity to meet so many people who are now an integral part of my life. I discovered a world based on authenticity and collaboration.
Not all environments are the same, and I have been fortunate to find truly stimulating communities, such as those at Teatro Mazzini and Crea e Reinventa.
With the public, there is a continuous exchange of ideas and genuine humanity—something I never expected to find. It is a precious opportunity that has allowed me to meet wonderful people.

Jewellery and paintings represent two different forms of expression. What kind of sensitivity does each require during the creative process?
I love creating both forms because they are extremely different and allow me to express myself in different ways: through the macro and the micro.
Creating jewellery requires a great deal of patience and, often, it is the combinations themselves that “speak” to me. In reality, I do not do anything particularly special; I simply let myself be guided by the materials.
Many times, a great deal of time passes before I decide to use a base, a frame or an element that I have shaped myself, precisely because I wait for it to convey the right feeling to me.
Then, suddenly, I realize that the piece has found its perfect place. Beautiful things, after all, need time.
Anyone who visits your creative space immediately perceives your sunny energy and your ability to listen. How much does human connection influence your artistic production?
Human relationships are a tremendous source of inspiration for me.
People often give me advice, express a wish or ask me to personalize something, perhaps simply changing a colour. From that small suggestion, something completely new emerges—something I had not even thought of before.
I find this exchange with the public extremely stimulating and full of possibilities.
Telling the story of what you create is an integral part of the way you present yourself. Where does this need for dialogue around the artwork come from?
This need arises completely naturally because, for me, a work does not end at the moment I create it. It is truly completed only when it encounters another person’s gaze and sensitivity.
Talking about what I do is my way of opening a door onto the creative process, of sharing the time, patience and emotion hidden behind every individual piece.
It is not simply a matter of “explaining” an object, but of creating a human bridge.
Often, when I tell a story or listen to people’s wishes and reactions, unexpected connections and ideas emerge that enrich my work.
The dialogue surrounding the artwork is what gives it life, transforming a handmade object into a shared experience.
Looking toward the future, what new artistic directions would you like to explore more intensely?
This is a difficult question to answer because my journey has brought me this far in a completely unexpected way.
I do not know what will guide my inspiration tomorrow. For the moment, I simply feel fortunate to be able to live and enjoy the present.
Author’s Note
Siris Mosaici began as a personal creative project. The works presented by Simona Righi are created exclusively as a hobby and do not constitute a commercial activity or a shop.
Each creation is the result of passion, research and artistic experimentation, shared with the public purely as an act of creative expression.
