PAWA DONATES BOOKS TO AKUSE FEMALE PRISON, GHANA

As part of its community literary outreach program, the Pan African Writers Association ( PAWA) on Friday March 27 2026 donated 30 books authored by African writers to the women’s wing of the Akuse local prison, in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The book presentation took place during the prison advocacy visit to the prison by the American prison activist and poet, Prof Bryonn Bain who was accompanied by his colleagues, Albert Tetteh and Larry Lowe.

Bain who was impressed with the high standard of the prison facility promised to support the prison with the establishment of a skill acquisition program that will support the re- integration of the inmates back into the society after the end of their terms.

While receiving the books on behalf of the Prison authorities, the deputy Officer In Charge (OIC) of the prison, DCP Adzakpa, thanked the visitors for the visit and the book gift.

The prison Chief promised to use the books to establish a small library and a book club in the prison.

In addition to the books, the CEO of the Peace And Love foundation (PAL) Albert Tetteh also presented two bags of rice to the facility.
