Motherland: A Global Anthology Celebrating the Poetic Heritage of the Mongolian World

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – The rich literary spirit of the Mongolian world has found a remarkable new expression in Motherland (Native Land), an international anthology that brings together the voices of 140 poets from nine countries, creating one of the most ambitious contemporary collections dedicated to Mongolian poetry and cultural identity.

Published by the World Federation of Mongolian Nomadic Heritage and Culture and authorized by the World Mongolian Nomads’ Heritage and Culture Association, the anthology stands as both a literary achievement and a cultural document. It celebrates the enduring legacy of the Mongolian nomadic civilization while demonstrating the geographical and spiritual reach of Mongolian poetic expression across borders.

The anthology presents a diverse tapestry of poems inspired by homeland, memory, identity, landscapes, and the shared values of nomadic culture. By gathering poets from different countries and cultural backgrounds, Motherland transforms poetry into a meeting point where traditions, histories, and contemporary experiences converge.

Beyond its literary significance, the publication represents an extraordinary international collaboration. The project has been realized with the cooperation of numerous cultural and literary institutions, including the World Organization of Writers, the World Peoples’ Assembly, the World Mongolian Writers’ Academy, the International Literary Silk Road Project, the Egyptian Writers’ Union, the Buryat Writers’ Union, the Kalmyk Writers’ Union, the Inner Mongolia Writers’ Union, and several cultural organizations and publishing initiatives in Mongolia and abroad.

The participation of the International Literary Silk Road Project, founded by Egyptian poet and writer Dr. Ashraf Aboul-Yazid, highlights the anthology’s broader mission of fostering dialogue among civilizations and preserving cultural memory through literature. The Egyptian poet, along with the well known Syrian poet Hani Nadeem are the only Arab poets in the anthology.

Motherland emerges not merely as a collection of poems but as a symbolic bridge linking the dispersed communities of the Mongolian world with readers across continents. It affirms that poetry remains one of humanity’s most powerful instruments for safeguarding heritage, strengthening cultural identity, and building understanding among peoples.

At a time when globalization often threatens local traditions, Motherland serves as a reminder that the heritage of the nomads continues to inspire new generations of poets and readers alike. Through its pages, the voices of 140 poets unite in a collective tribute to homeland, memory, and the enduring spirit of Mongolian culture.
